This peacock was created to join the parade. However, he got there too late and missed the party. He was able to join everybody else on the ride back home though.

I finally added legs to my bouncy bird! This was too late to include in the parade, but the work was worth it and definitely useful

Coda - Process
Working on the fourth film was very satisfactory, and now that all is done, I am quite pleased with the results. Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible if it hadn’t been for the work of the entire class, really.  Let’s begin: The biggest challenge of the fourth piece was to tie together the first three films. Its main purpose was to provide a closing idea for all the...

This is the first preview of our parade. In really bad quality, I’m not exactly sure why. After reviewing this clip, my group and I had several discussions on what to do next. We all agreed that adding more characters to the parade and creating a space in which they could walk were our first priorities. In my case, I still have to add legs to my little bird character. I also need to add at...

First tests in Dragon with my little puppet. I had a lot of trouble with the rigging in the legs, I’ll try again tomorrow with a different rig!

Animatic for the 4th film in the Canada Line project. Working with Laura Nisbet and Emilie Os-Schmitt, we produced this short animatic to be our coda for the project. This piece will include characters from all three films, and will provide a calm conclusion for the chaos in the parade.

This is one of the walk cycles I’ll be working with for the parade. First 6 seconds are  30 fps, last 5 are 24 fps

Canada Line Project Part I
Yesterday, a few members of my group (Cody, Nick, and Omar) and I headed out on a trip to explore the Canada Line and its many mysteries. We’ll be discussing our ideas with Judy soon, since she’s also doing an exploration. These are the ideas and feelings I gathered in our trip.  1. A transit security officer got on the train we were in. He asked us for our passes. Luckily, we all had...

"Elio" Research
The biggest obstacle I found in the production of this assignment was coming up with something to do. I love stop motion, but I’m not very comfortable with 3D media. I saw this piece, and figured  out paper toys weren’t so scary and I could try something with them.  This piece was produced by 3D animator and motion graphics artist Rob Diaz. It was made with paper toys and shot with a...

I was very inspired by this piece because I love the depth and textures that can be created with paper cutouts. This film was produced by Veronika Obertová, and it was her grad film for graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, in Bratislava, Slovakia. She won various awards for this great film. Her other work features stop motion animation, motion graphics, and digital cutouts. Her...

This amazing piece was created by Agency muh-tay-zik for Premiere Global Services. This piece was directed by Nando Costa,  a Brazilian artist living in Oregon. He’s a graphic designer, illustrator, and animator. His work is mostly commercial motion graphics, but he has a strong background in fine arts. You can check out his website HERE.  The illustrations for the piece were made by Betsy...
