Failed Experiment #2
After a talk with Martin, I thought I had finally figured out what to do. I ran to Michael’s, bought some jewelry (jewelling?) wire, some hockey tape from the Canadian Tire, and made a very simple puppet. This is my first build-up puppet ever, and the process was very frustrating. I vaguely referenced THIS tutorial, because I wasn’t even entirely sure of what I was doing anyway.
I decided I wanted to do some acting with my puppet first, as opposed to just straight up animating to my storyboard. Just a little test drive. I came up with this:

And well, it doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would. Build up puppets and stop motion aren’t my cup of tea YET, but I am certainly not scared to try either anymore. This was a good first experience, and it helped me realize what the next step in my project was

Failed Experiment #1
I’m going to call this my first failed experiment. I was not thinking about movement when I figured this is what I wanted to do, and only made a small wire rig for the head. Martin helped me re organize my thoughts and come up with different solutions for my animation.
What I learned from this failed experiment is the importance of having full body movement, despite whatever it is you want to do.
